About PHRI

Public Health Research Institute (PHRI) is incorporated in the state of Maine as a federal non-profit [501(c)(3)] research corporation governed by a voluntary Board of Directors that provides policy direction to the organization and exercises fiscal management and control over its activities. Board meetings occur on a quarterly basis with special meetings convened as needed.

The primary objectives of PHRI are to:

Provide high-quality scientific research to identify, describe, and define complex health care issues

Conduct epidemiological studies to further the design of programs and policies that target the detection and treatment of chronic diseases

Design and evaluate demonstration strategies and cost-effective solutions for health service delivery problems

Design practical evaluation protocols for monitoring the achievement of health program objectives

Develop solutions for the maximum utilization of health resources necessary to confront local and regional health care issues.

The goal of PHRI's health services research is to provide clients with answers to questions about the efficacy and efficiency of health care delivery systems. PHRI conducts research aimed at understanding and solving problems associated with the delivery of health services to the general public, with specific focus on the quality of health care, disease management, and primary care access.

PHRI has access to a core team of researchers with expertise in Epidemiology, Medicine, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Health Outcomes, Toxicology, Biostatistics, Occupational Medicine and Disease Surveillance.
