Announcing Organization ChangeThe Public Health Resource Group (PHRG), started in 1988, has merged into the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). Our new entity "The Center for Health Policy, Planning and Research" began operation effective March 1st. The Center will continue the work of PHRG and its sister organization, Public Health Research Institute (PHRI). We are very pleased and excited about this organizational change and look forward to working with old and new friends and clients to assist them in health system planning, chronic care quality improvement initiatives, research studies and program and policy evaluation. The Center will also be working with COM, UNE's School of Health Professions and other entities within and outside of UNE to expand the research program. Research-Driven Healthcare PlanningPublic Health Resource Group (PHRG), together with Public Health Research Institute (PHRI) a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, are independent healthcare research and planning firms headquartered in Portland, Maine. PHRG specializes in focused health services planning projects in public health, emergency preparedness and community health needs assessment. PHRI specializes in improving chronic care services in communities, health systems, regions and countries, by performing chronic disease care planning studies using the Innovative Care for Chronic Conditions (ICCC) framework. PHRI also conducts evaluation studies of projects and initiatives that address a wide range of health care topics. PHRG's emergency public health preparedness work consists of consulting to improve public health infrastructure through planning based on the ten essential public health services, with a particular emphasis is on the use of data systems and technology. PHRG also consults in the implementation of health information systems for private sector clients and governments.
